KINGSCLIFF DEVELOPMENT SHELVED

A controversial development proposal at Kingsdliff has been shelved. It was meant to be a sprawling 127-Unit Eco Resort, built South of Cudgen Creek known as Lot 490.

But since the 70-year lease was signed locals have protested likening the deal to environmental terrorism.

Yesterday, developer Leighton pulled out of the project, a move that has protestors happy, but wary.

Jerry Cornford says, “I don’t think anyone will give up the commercial value in that land that easily… We’ll keep fighting, we’ll see what happens”.

It’s believed the area is home to rare fauna and flora.
