Newcastle today hosted a parliamentary inquiry into regional development.
The federal committee heard from several speakers, from local councils to the Hunter Research Foundation, about strategies to drive growth in the area.
“We’re looking at various communities and centres around the country to see what best practices are in spurring regional development and looking at questions at what government departments will be placed in what parts of the country,” says Professor Will Rifkin from the Hunter Research Foundation.
It was the committee’s second public hearing in New South Wales.
