NEWCASTLE MP SAYS HE WILL FACE PARLIAMENTARY INQUIRY
The Greens MLC, David Shoebridge, has called on Newcastle MP Tim Crakanthorp to face a parliamentary inquiry so he can answer questions about a confidential cabinet paper.
Mr Crakanthorp claims he found the document in the back of a filing cabinet last year, when he took over the electoral office of former Liberal MP Tim Owens.
It details a preferred light rail route along the existing rail corridor.
“Mr Crakanthorp has a version of events, well he should come down and give that version under oath in the parliamentary committee. I understand he was very busy, well people expect their MPs to have this kind of openness,” said Mr Shoebridge.
The Member for Newcastle says he has nothing to hide and will give his version of events to the inquiry.
Mr Owen fronted the committee in Sydney yesterday and repeatedly denied knowledge of the document, saying his staff had advised him nothing was left behind.
