A body, believed to be that of a man reported missing from Beresfield, has been located.
85-year-old Raymond Peterson was last seen at Yarrum Avenue in Beresfield around 2pm Monday after he failed to return from a walk with his dog.
When he could not be contacted or located, officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.
A multi-agency search was carried out with assistance from the local community.
The body of a man was today located near Anderson Drive, Beresfield about 12:30pm.
While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing 85-year-old man.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
