MAN ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTS POLICE DURING BOORAGUL ARREST

A police officer has suffered a broken hand while arresting a man involved in an alleged domestic dispute near Lake Macquarie.

Police responded to reports of the alleged domestic dispute on Ranclaud Street in Booragul, at around 3:30pm yesterday.

On arrival, police arrested a 27-year-old man.

During the arrest, police will allege the man threatened and assaulted two officers, and spat on another.

One male officer was taken to John Hunter Hospital, suffering a fracture to his hand, while another male officer suffered minor injuries to his hand and torso.

The 27-year-old was charged with a string of offences, including assaulting a police officer in the execution of duty, three counts of resisting police, and four counts of intimidating with intent to cause fear/physical harm.
