52-YEAR-OLD PASSENGER DIES IN CAR CRASH NEAR BUCHANAN

A single vehicle crash in the Hunter Valley has killed a man and left three others in hospital.

Police say a Ford sedan hit a tree in the Werekata State Conservation Area at Buchanan, south of Maitland, just before 8.30 last night.

A 52-year-old male passenger died at the scene, while the 20-year-old male driver suffered serious injuries and was flown to John Hunter Hospital.

He remains in a critical condition.

The rear passengers, two men both aged 18, suffered minor injuries and were also taken to John Hunter Hospital.
