Ballina Shire Council has issued a red alert for blue green algae at Lennox Head’s Lake Ainsworth.
It’s advising locals not to swim until further notice, as contact with contaminated water can cause skin irritation and mild respiratory symptoms.
Council says it’s erecting signs to notify residents of the alert.
