UNI BEATS MEREWETHER IN THE NDCA T20 FINAL

University has caused an upset in the Newcastle Cricket Twenty20 final, beating defending champions Merewether.
The Students got off to a slow start, with Luke Stewart given an early life by Sam Gilmour.
Gilmour hit back, snaring the wicket of Tim Prescott.
Next over, Uni was in trouble, as Pat Darwen trapped Luke Bird.
But Matt Gawthrop steadied the ship, guiding his side to 6 for 149.
In reply, Merewether was two wickets down and needed to up the run rate when disaster struck.
Josh Geary fell, before Michael Radnidge had Troy Goodwin caught behind the very next ball.
Sam Gilmour came to the crease to try and resurrect the innings.
But after living dangerously for a few overs, he was run out, and the Lions couldn’t recover.
