TO FIG OR NOT TO FIG

Newcastle has dramas with fig trees, and so does Toronto.

The business community says two years is too long to come up with a plan to get rid of the main street’s iconic trees, and now they’re threatening legal action.

  1. these latecomers to town with their eateries on OUR pathways can bugger off before any of our magnificent Figs can!

  2. toronto is a great town and part of its beauty is these iconic trees down the boulevarde. easier to move a loo than to move these living features.

  3. as someone who works in Toronto, I also like the figs and their beauty with regards to the birds, they are harmless in their own way.
    Unfortunately the likes of the trees not being pruned as were many yrs ago, they have been left to grow to enormous height and with that the roots travelled into hunter water pipes and under buildings.
    It is an unfair comment to blame the business people trying to make a living for them selves and employees, but progress is something that will never change.
