A man accused of attacking a woman with a hammer in the Hunter Valley, has been formally refused bail in court.
23-year-old Peter David Wiedermann has been charged with attempted murder over the alleged assault at a home on Catherine Street in Maitland yesterday afternoon.
The case has been adjourned to Newcastle on October 21, where Wiedermann is expected to appear via videolink.
The 38-year-old woman remains in a stable condition in John Hunter Hospital.
