STEELE DISAPPOINTED WITH PERFORMANCE AGAINST MARINERS

Northern Ireland beat Greece in Euro 2016 qualifiers overnight, a result that was certainly popular with the Jets’ Jonny Steele.

“Yeah a massive win. A lot of my friends were in that team. They’ve got 9 points from three games so hopefully they can make it to the Euros and I can do well enough to get into the squad.”

Steele and his Newcastle teammates were forced indoors for training today because of wet weather.

The midfielder spoke openly about last weekend’s clash with the Mariners, saying he was disappointed with his performance – especially after missing a golden opportunity.

“I’d put money on myself 9 times out of 10 but it didn’t, if that goes in it’s a different game so I’m not going to look back and dwell on it, move forward and hope that I get the chances this weekend and put them away.”
