A covid-positive Port Stephens man has been fined $10,000 for leaving his home twice within the space of three and half hours.
On Tuesday morning, police arrived at the 29-year-old man’s Nelson Bay home for a compliance check.
He was self-isolating, however an hour and a half later police found him walking along a nearby road with another man.
He was slapped with a $5,000 fine for not self-isolating.
Around 3:30pm, police were told the man had again left his home and he was issued a second $5,000 fine.
Police have since returned to the man’s home for another compliance check and found him self-isolating.
