FINAL WISH COMES TRUE IN NEWCASTLE FOR UK’S FIRST FEMALE MOUNTED POLICE OFFICER
Horses ‘Hollywood’ and ‘Don’ from the New South Wales Police Force’s Mounted Unit travelled from Sydney to Newcastle yesterday, to meet Rita Meredith.
When Rita was in her early 20’s, she was the first female Mounted Police Officer in the United Kingdom.
Rita is currently unwell, and is spending her final days in hospice care in Newcastle.
Her wish before she passed was to see a horse one last time.
