WINDALE RESIDENT ONE OF FOUR NEW CASES IN THE HUNTER

Four new cases have been recorded in the Hunter New England Health District.

This brings the total number of cases in this outbreak to 168.

Of these new cases, one is in North Rothbury, one is in Raymond Terrace, one is in Wallsend and one is in Windale.

There are now 114 active cases in the region and 31 people in hospital due to the virus.

All the fresh cases are linked and only the Windale case was infectious in the community.

An apartment block at Windale is in lockdown due to the infectious resident.

This case contracted their illness after travelling to Sydney and is not linked to the Costco cluster.

They are now isolating off-site, and the health district is arranging urgent onsite testing for affected residents.

All residents have been contacted and advised to isolate until tested.

Anyone who visited the apartment complex between the evening of Friday, August 20 and the morning of Tuesday, August 24 must get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.
