LOCKDOWN EXTENDED | GREATER SYDNEY STUDENTS BACK TO HOMESCHOOLING

Greater Sydney’s lockdown, which includes the Central Coast, has been extended for one more week.

It will now end on July 16.

The announcement comes as New South Wales records 27 new locally-acquired cases of COVID-19.

The result comes from more than 45,000 tests done in the past 24 hours.

Of these new cases, 18 are linked to a known case or cluster, seven are household contacts and 11 are close contacts.

The source of infection for nine cases remains under investigation.

It brings the total reported cases to 357 since the first case of the Bondi cluster was reported on June 16.

The cluster’s growth means students in lockdown areas will not return to the classroom until July 19.

Face-to-face learning will resume in regional NSW on Tuesday.

More to come.
