GAV’S WEATHER | COLD START TO WINTER

One of the most significant early season cold pools is impacting south-east Australia tonight.

The cold air is now sweeping in across the region turning rain to snow over mountain areas to low levels.

There’s another impressive low in the west.

A rare event is unfolding where both sides of the country get wild weather at the same time due to two powerful lows.

As the low sits over New South Wales tonight, winter storms embedded in it will affect the northern New South Wales ranges.

Eastern Victoria will cop the brunt of the storm with heavy rain streaming in causing flash flooding.

Showers on the low ground west of the Divide.

Snow showers falling to 600 metres overnight and continuing tomorrow across the northern New South Wales ranges with strong, cold westerly winds.

Mostly fine but cold for the northern New South Wales coast to south-east Queensland.
