LAURIE FIRST LAND AND WATER COMMISSIONER

Walcha farmer Jock Laurie has been named the the first Land and Water Commissioner for New South Wales.
The National Farmers’ Federation president will hold the position for up to three years, starting December 10.
Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner, who today made the announcement, says Mr Laurie is a ‘friend of the farmer’.
He’s described Mr Laurie’s advocacy on behalf of farmers as ‘legendary’.
In his new role, the Commissioner will provide guidance to landholders in relation to mining exploration licences, access agreements and compensation.
