WERRIS CREEK MAN TAKEN TO HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS BURNS

A man has suffered serious burns while trying to light a fire at Werris Creek, south of Tamworth.

Emergency services were called to a rural property at 7.30 last night.

It’s understood the 34-year-old had been trying to light a fire when it flashed over him, leaving him with burns to his hands and torso.

He was treated at the scene before being transported by ambulance to the Tamworth Airport, where the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was waiting.

He was flown to Sydney’s Royal North Shore hospital in a serious but stable condition.
