MAN CHARGED OVER SERIOUS LAKE MACQUARIE CRASH

A man has been charged over a serious crash at Lake Macquarie last year, which injured two young children.

Just after 9pm on October 19, emergency services were called to Bareki Road at Eleebana, after reports a Honda Civic and a Ford Mondeo collided at the intersection of Eleebana Road.

Two children in the Ford, aged five and six-weeks-old, suffered serious head injuries and were taken to John Hunter Hospital.

They have since been released from hospital.

The driver of the Honda, a 46-year-old man from Abermain, was trapped for a short time before being taken to John Hunter Hospital.

He was treated for serious internal injuries, and has since been released.

The male driver of the Ford, aged 36, and his female passenger, aged 31, were uninjured during the crash.

After extensive inquiries, police attended a home on Cessnock Road at Abermain, and spoke with a 46-year-old man.

He was charged with a string of offences, including driving under the influence of an illicit drug, and dangerous driving.

He’s due to appear at Belmont Local Court on April 21.
