MOTORCYCLIST DIES AFTER BEING HIT BY TRUCK AT LAKE MACQUARIE
A motorcyclist has died after being hit by a truck at Lake Macquarie this morning.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on the corner of Ranton Street and Mitchell Road at Cardiff around 11:40am.
The impact of the collision saw the motorcyclist thrown from his bike and become trapped underneath a stationary vehicle.
NSW Ambulance officers tried to resuscitate the 78-year-old rider, but sadly he couldn’t be saved.
The 46-year-old male truck driver and the female driver of the vehicle were uninjured and taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage is urged to come forward.
