TAWNY FROGMOUTH CAUSES CAR CRASH

Lake Macquarie police has confirmed an owl was the cause of a crash between a van and a parked car at Belmont North last night.

At 10.30pm, a delivery driver was traveling west on John Street in the van, when a low flying owl flew through his open window, hitting him in the head.

The impact caused the van to collide with an unattended parked car, causing considerable damage to both vehicles.

The 21-year-old jumped from his vehicle and was helped by nearby residents, one of whom took a photo of the owl sitting on the van’s dash.

More tonight at six.
