HEALTH DISTRICT RESPONDS TO NURSING SHIFT COMPLAINTS

The Local Health District says it’s filling nursing vacancies following yesterday’s rally over perceived staff shortages at Gosford Hospital.

The union is fighting the state government’s 1.5 per cent cap on wage rises, arguing nurses had to make up for 200 hours’ worth of unmanned shifts.

Central Coast Local Health District says the shortfall was due to nurses working in high-demand coronavirus services.

Nurses have since transitioned out of COVID-19 screening roles.

Fewer than three of its 700 nursing shifts are unfilled on any given day.
