Police have identified the victim of a fatal stabbing in Newcastle last week as 56-year-old Christopher Ward.
At around 8.20pm on Sunday, a man arrived at a home on Broadmeadow Road, with a serious stab wound to his stomach.
A woman answered and called emergency services.
She and a neighbour assisted him, while they waited for an ambulance to arrive.
Mr Ward was taken to the John Hunter Hospital where he later died.
Police are treating his death as a homicide and have released his name and a photograph, as they continue their investigation.
They’re hoping anyone with information comes forward as soon as possible.
