NEW DETAILS EMERGE ABOUT SCHOOL LOCKDOWN INCIDENT

New details have emerged about an altercation between two students which sent Tomaree High School into lockdown yesterday morning.

Shortly before 11am, a 14-year-old student was punched several times to the head and stomped on while he was on the ground.

Police say the older brother of the victim became enraged and made threats of violence towards the alleged perpetrator.

Teachers restrained the brother and escorted him to a secure part of the school, before the lockdown was enforced as a precaution.

When police arrived, they say the boy was angry and aggressive.

He’s accused of violently resisting arrest.

He was taken to Nelson Bay police station, before later being released to be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.

The boy who allegedly attacked his 14-year-old brother was also interviewed by police.

Personal violence orders were obtained and served.
