CENTRAL COAST MAN BREAKS POLICE OFFICER’S NOSE DURING ARREST

A senior constable has suffered a broken nose while arresting a man on the Central Coast.

After attending an alleged domestic violence incident at Perouse Avenue at San Remo, police spoke with a 42-year-old man and attempted to arrest him.

The man resisted the arrest and allegedly elbowed a male senior constable in the face.

The 42-year-old was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with six offences, including assault police occasioning actual bodily harm, resist officer in execution of duty, assault (DV), intimidation, breach of AVO.

The man was also charged with possess prohibited pistol, after police seized a gel blaster pistol from the scene.

He was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court today.

The senior constable was taken to Wyong Hospital with a broken nose and other facial injuries.

A second officer suffered cartilage damage to his rib and lacerations to his right arm and knee.
