‘Sniper’ the cat has an Ausgrid crew to thank for saving his life.
The fearless feline was found at the top of a power pole on Church Street in Cessnock last week, after running away from a dog.
Ausgrid technician Michael Schoonhoven said the incident caused quite the stir amongst locals.
“When we arrived, Sniper was sitting between two of the powerlines in a space just barely big enough for him to sit, with his fur brushing the wires. Thankfully the fur stopped him coming in contact with the live wires.”
The crew had to work near live powerlines, so the power was turned off to allow the delicate rescue to be done safely.
