GPT PULLS PLUG ON $600-MILLION PROJECT & DJS TO CLOSE

The New South Wales Government has been blamed for the loss of a $600-million project to redevelop Newcastle’s failing CBD.

This afternoon the property giant, GPT, abandoned the planned overhaul, citing a lack of commitment from the Keneally Government.

To make matters worse, retailer David Jones will follow suit by closing its Newcastle store.
