MAN AIRLIFTED TO HOSPITAL AFTER HUNTER EXPRESSWAY COLLISION

A man is recovering in hospital after being trapped in his car for two hours following an accident on the Hunter Expressway at Seahampton.

It’s believed the 56-year-old was driving a van and collided into the back of a semi-trailer just before 7am.

Emergency services worked to free him, shutting off traffic on the highway for several hours.

He suffered ankle and wrist injuries and was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital to check for any internal injuries.

The truck driver was unharmed and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Police are investigating.
