A search is underway at Port Stephens to find a man who went missing from Fingal Bay yesterday.
Officers from Nelson Bay Police, Marine Area Command, Police Rescue and SES volunteers are searching for Daniel Skinner.
The 45-year-old was last seen swimming with a friend at Fingal Spit about 5pm on Tuesday.
Both men were helped out of the water by surf life savers, before Daniel left the area.
Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District began a search for the man, however he could not be located.
The search resumed today, with Daniel’s friends holding serious concerns for his welfare.
Daniel is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, with a medium build and brown hair.
He is known to frequent the Fingal Bay, Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay areas, and has no fixed place of abode.
Anyone with information about Daniel’s whereabouts is urged to contact police.
