ARMED ROBBERY AT SANDGATE SERVICE STATION

A service station worker was threatened with a samurai sword and a baseball bat during an armed robbery at Sandgate overnight.

Emergency services were called the Maitland Road outlet at about 1.45am.

It’s understood two unknown men approached the counter, threatened the 24-year-old male employee with the weapons in hand and demanded money.

They allegedly stole cash and fled the scene on foot towards Mangrove Road.

Thankfully, the worker wasn’t harmed.

Police are appealing for dashcam vision and CCTV from the surrounding area.
