WOMAN CHARGED OVER HIGH SPEED CHASE WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR

A 32-year-old woman’s been charged with leading police on a high speed pursuit with three young children in her car.

At around 9.30 last night, the driver of a Mazda MPV allegedly failed to stop for police, while travelling west on Yarrie Lake Road at Narrabri.

Officers pursued the vehicle, and the driver allegedly reached speeds of up to 170 kilometres an hour in a 100 zone.

She later allegedly pulled over on the road shoulder and a man in the passenger seat jumped out and ran.

The driver was finally stopped on Bridge Street and arrested.

That’s when police discovered there were three children in the car; a four-month-old girl and two boys aged two and seven.

The two-year-old was allegedly unrestrained.

The woman was taken to Narrabri Police Station and charged with several offences.

She was refused bail to appear at Moree Local Court today,

The children are in the care of relatives and a child at risk notification has been made.

Inquiries are continuing to find the passenger.
