SENTENCE DOUBLED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENDER

A former Anglican Church volunteer, convicted of almost 30 child sex offences, has had his sentence doubled.
James Michael Brown pleaded guilty to 27 charges of sexual misconduct with 20 boys, aged between eight and 17.

The offences took place between the mid 1970s and late 90s, and included his time as a board member of St Alban’s Boys Home at Aberdare.

The 62-year-old was originally jailed for 10 years, with a non-parole period of six, but an appeal by the Director of Public Prosecutions today saw both terms doubled.
