THREE PEOPLE SERIOUSLY INJURED IN ACCIDENT AT YAMBA

Three people have been injured in smash on the Pacific Highway at Yamba.

The incident occurred at Chatsworth Island, just after 8.15 this morning, in the North Bound lanes.

It’s believed a truck crashed into an SUV.

He was trapped for sometime before being released by emergency services and flown to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

A 59-year-old woman was also injured.

A 30-year-old man was taken to Lismore Base Hospital, with lower leg injuries.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit will be on scene shortly to determine the cause of the crash.

The Pacific Highway is closed in both directions and motorists are being told to allow an extra half an hour travel time.

Drivers heading north can divert via Summerland Way at Grafton, while those heading south can divert via Bruxner Highway at Ballina.

Reporter, Bronte Gildea, will have more details in the news tonight at 6pm.
