CHURCHES REMAIN CLOSED BUT EASTER SERVICES TO BE CONSIDERED AS WORKPLACES

Places of worship taking part in religious services over the Easter break will be considered “workplaces” under social distancing restrictions.

That means additional people involved in Easter rituals in certain Orthodox religions will be allowed to take part – so long as they abide by the four-metre distancing rule.

This does not mean people are allowed to attend church.

Prime Minister, Scott Morrison said “Churches are not open, places or worship are not open, I want to be very clear about that.”

Mr Morrison also said Australians need to cancel travel plans this Easter.

“People should not be going away for Easter holidays. This is an Easter at home.”
