TEEN CHARGED WITH HOLDING UP A SERVICE STATION WITH A REPLICA PISTOL

A teenager has been charged with holding up a service station with a replica pistol in Lismore.

At 6.05pm, the 18-year-old man entered the servo on Ballina Road, demanding money and cigarettes while pointing a replica Glock-style pistol at an employee.

The employee confronted him and called police.

The man fled on foot, heading south down Keen Street.

Later, police stopped to speak with two men walking along Dixon Place at Lismore Heights after spotting one of them with an item wrapped in a T-shirt, believed to be a firearm.

They were both arrested and taken to Lismore police station.

The 18-year-old from Goonellabah was charged with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, refused bail and will appear in Lismore Local Court today.

The second man was released without charge, pending further investigation.
