NEW BOARDWALK FOR ICONIC PORT MACQUARIE LANDMARK

Enjoying the views from Tacking Point Lighthouse is now a lot safer, thanks to a new 52-metre boardwalk.

The $100,000 concrete walk way was a joint project between Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, the state government and the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise.

The boardwalk was stage four of a five-year project, which aimed to improve the historic site.

“Its certainly enhanced the site and that’s what we set out do, we haven’t quite finished yet but this is another important step forward”

The next stage of the project involves restoring the lighthouse keeper’s cottage.
