DARING RAID OF ALLIGATOR NEST

Few would dare to mess with THIS tough mother…

But keepers at the Australian Reptile Park were tasked with raiding her nest on Thursday.

They tied a rope around the alligator’s jaws, pinned her down and covered her eyes.

With maternal ‘Betty’ under control, her 47 eggs were removed delicately, one-by-one.

“The climate that we live in, the eggs would get far too hot in the nest itself,” keeper Dan Rumsey said.

“So we extract the eggs, take the eggs to an incubator and that way we can control the temperature in that environment and hatch out tiny little American Alligators.”

It’s expected the babies will hatch soon.
