CRITICAL SHORTAGE OF CENTRAL COAST FOSTER CARERS

A local foster carer has opened up about her experience in the hopes of enticing others to fill a critical shortage of carers in the region.

For more than two decades, Barbara Wallisch has fostered 40 children…including her two adopted daughters Vanessa and Rebecca.

“Being a foster carer is rewarding like very fulfilling and the happiness too and if you see that child thrive, and make them feel that they belong and have some nice childhood memories I mean it’s worthwhile.” – Barbara Wallisch, Foster Carer

An information session on forster caring will be run by ‘My Forever Family’ at the Mingara Event Centre on Friday.
