STOCKTON BEACH RECEIVES MONEY FOR SAND WORKS

Newcastle Council will receive an additional $175,000 from the state government to build sand volumes at Stockton Beach.

Minister for Local Government Shelley Hancock says her department is doing all it can to help replenish the coastline.

“The newest round of funding will enable approximately 5,500 tonnes of sand to be placed on the beach to the south of Lexie’s Café in time for the Christmas school holidays. In the past few months alone more than half a million dollars in funding has been provided by the NSW Government to support the local Council manage erosion issues at the beach.”

The NSW Government says it will continue to support investigations into long-term solutions for the beach, including considerations of offshore sand dredging.
