NEW RED-LIGHT CAMERA AT KOTARA INTERSECTION

A notorious intersection in Kotara could soon become safer, with the installation of a new red-light speed camera monitoring Charlestown Road and Carnley Avenue.

From 2014 to 2018, 18 people were injured in crashes at the intersection, some seriously.

Executive Director of the Centre for Road Safety Bernard Carlon said the camera will be switched on from Friday 29 November, and operate in ‘warning mode’ for a month.

“We know that running red lights can lead to serious T-bone crashes or vehicles crashing into pedestrians,” Mr Carlon said.
