Secondary students who live away from home will receive more financial support in the new year.
The state government has announced a 40 per cent increase in the Living Away from Home Allowance, bringing it to a total of $2,000.
In addition, Year 11 and 12 students considered ‘isolated’ will be offered a one off payment of $460.
Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall says the allowance will continue to be means tested.
