A total fire ban remains in place for the Hunter, North Western & Northern Slopes districts, with temperatures again on the increase and winds continuing to strengthen.
Meanwhile, the RFS has released new images showing just how close flames came to homes near Armidale earlier this week.
The Carrai Creek fire is currently listed as ‘being controlled’ and has scorched around 3,000 hectares.
Photos from the air show untouched homes just metres from charred ground, with fire crews able to save a number of isolated properties.
Given the remote nature of the fire, it’s expected to take a number of days to contain.
