TWO KIDS ARRESTED OVER FIREARM THEFT

A couple of firearms have been recovered, after being allegedly stolen from a ute in the state’s north west last week.

It’s alleged the vehicle was stolen from Gunnedah’s town centre, on Little Barber Street, and was later found resting against a boundary fence on Thursday 5 September.

Police say two guns were from the footwell of the ute, along with other personal items.

Two boys, aged 17, were arrested at Gunnedah this week in relation to the incident and appeared before a children’s court on Wednesday.

They were refused bail to reappear on Tuesday 17 September.

The two guns were surrendered to Gunnedah Police Station on Thursday, burnt out and destroyed by fire.

Further investigations will be made by Oxley Rural Crime Prevention Team and numerous additional charges are expected to be laid.
