FORMER POLICEMAN CHARGED WITH FIREARM OFFENCES

A man will appear in court today charged with firearms offences.

The 44-year-old was arrested at a home at Medowie at around 4.30pm on Thursday as part of Strike Force Raptor.

He was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station and charged with two counts of acquiring a prohibited firearm.

Police will allege in court the former NSW Police Force employee handled an M1 carbine semi-automatic rifle and an air rifle at a Bundanoon property in June.

A search warrant was issued for the property just weeks later in July, where police seized the rifle and nine other firearms.

Two men aged 33 and 65 were charged at the time and remain before the courts.

The 44-year-old will appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court today.
