VAN EGMOND TO RETURN TO AUSTRALIA FOR SURGERY

W-Legaue star Emily van Egmond will return to Australia for surgery on her ankle, ruling her out for the remainder of the NWSL season.

The 26-year-old has reportedly been struggling with her left ankle for a number of weeks, however has continued to play for club side Orlando Pride.

It’s understood the injury occurred while playing for the Matildas at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“We are obviously very upset to lose Emily for the remainder of the season. As a Club, we know that Emily is a world-class athlete and she has the mental capacity to push herself beyond her physical limitations, but her long-term health is our biggest priority,” said Orlando Pride General Manager Erik Ustruck.
