CENTRAL COAST ATHLETE NAMED UON’S SPORTSPERSON OF THE YEAR

The Central Coast has shined at this year’s University of Newcastle Sports Awards, with Umina Beach surf lifesaver, Jemma Smith named winner of the Sports Person of the Year.

The champion ironwoman is currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education at UON.

Jemma was praised for her outstanding recent performances, including winning nine medals at the Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships.

The 20 year old was also honoured for being crowned the Women’s Ski Champion in the last Ocean 6 series, as well as placing 7th overall in the Nutri-Grain Ironwoman.
