SIMMONS UNLIKELY TO LINE UP FOR BOOMERS AT WORLD CUP

NBA star Ben Simmons appears unlikely to play for Australia at the upcoming World Cup.

Simmons’ US based agent Rich Paul told ESPN the 22-year-old Philadelphia 76ers player would probably spend the NBA off-season by working on his game.

“Simmons is more likely now to spend his full off-season preparing only for the Sixers season, free of national team responsibilities,” ESPN reported.

It’s a big blow for basketball fans down under, who expected to see the former Newcastle junior lead the Boomers against the United States in two pre-World Cup games in Melbourne next month.

The World Cup gets underway in China on August 31.
