After spending five weeks on the mend, a fairy penguin has been released back into the wild, but not before one last free feed.
The little guy was found at Killcare beach a few weeks ago suffering from a laceration believed to have been caused by a boat prop.
He was cared for by Australian Sea Bird Rescue, who today had to coax the creature back to the water.
The penguin was ready to return to his colony at the weekend but staff held off his release until recent storms and rough seas had passed.
