SHORT AND LONG TERM WATER PLANS MADE AS DAM LEVELS SINK

Water shortages in the north-west have reached dire levels, with just under 25 gigalitres remaining in Chaffey Dam.

Regional Water Coordinator James McTavish was in town this week, meeting with Tamworth Regional Council.

He says the region will have sufficient water for the short-term.

As for the long-term – the Malpas Dam pipeline is almost complete, and a new storage facility is on the way for Walcha.

However, Guyra’s estimated to have just 80 days worth of water left, Armidale Regional Council is urging residents to be extra conservative with their supplies.
