MATILDAS SQUAD NAMED FOR WOMEN’S WORLD CUP

Newcastle’s Emily Van Egmond and Gema Simon feature in the Matildas squad for next month’s Women’s World Cup.

Coach Ante Milicic made the announcement this morning, with superstar Sam Kerr to take the captain’s armband.

Other notable inclusions are Lisa De Vanna, who will play in her fourth World Cup, while 16-year-old Mary Fowler will also make the journey to France.

The Matildas kick off their campaign against Italy on June 9, before matches against Brazil and Jamaica.
